Fate and the first night.....

My name is Krista and I am one of the founders of Gracie's Gift. On Thursday, July 28, 2022 I had planned to go on one of my regular trail runs. However, fate intervened and an unexpected event changed my plans and I went the following evening. Not expecting anything out of the ordinary, as I approached my turn around point I heard faint cries. At first I thought it may have been a bird, but as I came closer the cries of distress became louder and more familiar. I searched for the source and soon discovered a tiny kitten in tall grass right next to the dirt trail. I ran back to my car and quickly drove to where she was found. I scooped her up in my hat and took her home. Not having any experience with how to care for this little kitten, I called in reinforcements in the form of an aunt and a niece, both being quite familiar with kittens. The picture below is the first of the tiny kitten we named Gracie and it shows my mom and aunt with a make shift feeding tube while I made an emergency run for kitten milk replacement formula.
